1. Who can use Oafer

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you represent that you have permission from a parent or guardian to use Oafer and to accept these Terms on your behalf where required by law.

2. What Oafer is

Oafer is an AI-assisted study companion. It uses artificial intelligence, including large language models operated by third-party providers, to generate responses, explanations, practice materials, and study aids based on your input and any materials you upload.

Oafer is an AI. It can make mistakes. Responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated, including responses grounded in material you upload. Always verify important information — especially anything you plan to rely on for a graded assignment, an exam, or an academic decision — against your course materials, your instructor, or another trusted source. Oafer is a study aid, not a substitute for instruction, and is not a credentialed tutor, teacher, or academic advisor.

3. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

4. Content you upload

You may upload textbooks, notes, and course materials to help Oafer tailor its responses to your coursework.

You must have the right to upload what you upload. By uploading a file, you represent that you own it, have permission to use it, or are otherwise legally entitled to upload it for your personal study use. Uploaded material is private to your account and is not shared with, or accessible by, any other user.

We honor valid copyright takedown notices — to submit one, contact us at [email protected]. We will terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who repeatedly upload material in violation of others' copyrights. We may remove uploaded content that violates these Terms or applicable law, with or without notice.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Oafer to:

6. AI-generated content

Responses, practice questions, summaries, and other material Oafer generates are produced by AI models. You retain your own rights in the materials you upload; Oafer does not claim ownership over your uploaded content.

7. Third-party AI providers

Oafer uses third-party infrastructure providers to process your messages and generate responses. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the underlying behavior of third-party AI models beyond our reasonable efforts to configure and monitor them appropriately.

8. If you're struggling

Oafer is a study tool, not a crisis resource. If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, self-harm ideation, or is in danger, please contact: 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988), Crisis Text Line (text HOME to 741741), or 911 if there is immediate danger. Oafer's full safety protocol, including how the AI responds when these topics come up, is published at oafer.ai/safety.html.

Companion chatbot notice: Oafer's AI companion may not be suitable for some minors. Oafer periodically reminds users it believes to be minors that they are interacting with an AI system and encourages breaks during extended use.

9. Termination

You may stop using Oafer and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, including the repeat-infringer policy in Section 4.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Oafer is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Oafer and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability where such limitation is not permitted by law.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be noted with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of Oafer after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
